No matter how well a vehicle is maintained inevitably it will, at some point, break down and usually it’s at the most inconvenient time, like when you’ve got a plane to catch and you need to get to the airport in the next 3-4 hours!

Here at JEN-BAR we have the means to recover cars and vans up to 3.5t in size and, whilst we won’t promise to be the next RAC or AA we will ensure your vehicle is safely recovered from wherever it is you’ve broken down and will help to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

An Introduction To Vehicle Recovery Problems

A dead or faulty battery is one of the most common reasons why people have to call us out, especially in the cold weather. When it is cold, more strain is put on the battery when the ignition is started. Not everyone carries jump leads, and those that do don’t necessarily know what they are doing and seldom succeed without help.

To reduce the chances of battery failure, switch off air-con, lights and radio’s when the engine is off and avoid making too many short journeys as this will drain your battery over time. A long journey will give your battery more time to charge.

Damaged or flat tyres are also a typically common reason why people end up needing to call for assistance. To avoid getting caught out with a flat, ensure you check the condition of your tyres before going on a long journey. Don’t forget your spare tyre as a damaged or flat spare tyre won’t be any good to you if you break down.

Make sure the air pressure is correct, and check tread depth as this must be over 1.6mm for you to legally drive with those tyres. Keep an eye out for uneven wear and if your wheels are still aligned whilst bulges, tears and lumps are signs that the structure of your tyres has been damaged.

Don’t take the risk of blowing out a tyre when driving at high speed with these tyres.

To cover all bases you can complete regular, preliminary checks of the following areas of your vehicle to ensure you have the best possible chance of not needing a recovery service in the first place;
